Paul Hoepner joined the faculty in 1959. He currently conducts research in the areas of commodity marketing and production. He has taught courses in production, real property appraisal, advanced microeconomic theory, price analysis, and econometrics. He also consults on marketing programs with major grain and livestock producers and has made extensive visits to Guatemala, Venezuela, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

Professor Hoepner received Virginia Tech's Wine Award for Outstanding Teaching in 1965.

In addition to his department activities, he served as associate dean of the Graduate School from 1971 through 1979.

He has recently published Commodity Marketing from a Producer's Perspective (with D. G. Chafin), Danville, IL: Interstate Press, 1989, and is currently completing an undergraduate microeconomics textbook that includes a spreadsheet program to determine the optimum allocation of resources in an interregional trade model (tentatively titled Microeconomics: Firm, Industry, Regional, and Interregional Trade and Resource Allocation).
