Jaren Pope
|
Jaren Pope joined the faculty in the fall of 2006. Prior to arriving at Virginia Tech, Jaren received a Ph.D. in Economics from North Carolina State University. His dissertation entitled “Limited Attention, Asymmetric Information, and the Hedonic Model,” received an American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA) Dissertation award in 2007.
Jaren’s primary research area is in environmental and urban economics. Much of his work has focused on using property value information and the hedonic method to understand how households value environmental and urban amenities. For example, Jaren has analyzed how environmental real estate disclosures influence property values. He has also looked at the effect that sex offender location decisions have on housing prices. Currently Jaren is working on projects that assess the efficacy of combining quasi-experiments with hedonic methods.
His outside interests include playing basketball, reading and spending time with his wife and three daughters.
